The Phoenix Suns are keeping one of their defensive leaders in the desert for the foreseeable future.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Dillon Brooks has agreed to a three-year, $73 million contract extension with the Suns. The deal keeps Brooks under contract through the 2029-30 NBA season.
Brooks arrived in Phoenix this offseason and has quickly become a cornerstone of the culture head coach Jordan Ott is looking to establish. Known for his relentless defensive intensity, physical play, and willingness to take on the opponent’s toughest perimeter assignment, Brooks provides the type of edge every contender covets.
While his defensive reputation has long been his calling card, Brooks has also developed into a reliable offensive contributor capable of knocking down perimeter shots and providing secondary scoring. To that end, the Oregon product averaged a career high 20.2 points per contest , second only the the 26.1 per night of Devin Booker.
His versatility allows Phoenix to deploy him against multiple positions while surrounding its star talent with a rugged, high-energy presence.
The extension signals the Suns’ confidence that Brooks will remain a foundational piece as the franchise pursues championship contention over the coming seasons. Locking him up on a long-term deal also provides roster stability as Phoenix continues building around its core.
With Brooks now under contract through 2030, the Suns have ensured that one of the NBA’s premier wing defenders will remain in Phoenix for years to come.
